Audit and verification
Technical inspections of installations are normally undertaken by third parties (the certification bodies) as part of the certification process and the results of those inspections were not being made available to MCS Service Company. To complement these inspections, MCS identified a need to gain first hand evidence of the quality of installations being completed under the MCS scheme. The feedback from industry representatives has been that this is an essential part of monitoring the effectiveness of any scheme.
This project was commissioned to undertake a series of technical inspections of installations spread across the technologies, the installer Certification Bodies and different types of installer (e.g. large company and one-man companies/sole-traders) that has now provided a better understanding of how the MCS scheme can best protect consumers and support installers through informing a review of the relevant standards, guidance, scheme structure and processes.
