Planning restrictions for small scale wind lifted
The MCS Foundation has welcomed Government proposals to allow more businesses, as well as schools and other non-domestic settings, to benefit from homegrown energy in the form of small-scale wind.
The Government is proposing to lift planning restrictions and allow permitted development rights for installations of small-scale wind turbines of up to 30m. This is an outcome that The MCS Foundation has worked closely with partners including NFU to advocate for.
Small turbines – which at 30m would be no larger than an oak tree – can help provide businesses, farmers, and schools cut their bills and make the best use of their land.
We look forward to working with Government to ensure that small-scale wind is installed to MCS standards to provide confidence and quality assurance.
