Holly Wakelin
Research Assistant
Holly joined the MCS Foundation as a Research Assistant for the external affairs team in May 2024, and is responsible for supporting Jenny and Richard in their research efforts. Holly graduated from the University of East Anglia at the end of 2023, obtaining both a first-class BSc and MSc in Climate Change, and is at the beginning of her career in the environment sector.
For her postgraduate dissertation, Holly focused on carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, quantifying their use in different modelled warming scenarios from 2020 to 2100. She also explored the feasibility of bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) and assessed how this technology is represented by the Integrated Assessment Modelling community. Holly won the university award for the best dissertation on climate change for both her postgraduate and undergraduate projects.
Holly is passionate about sustainability and contributing towards the UK’s net-zero journey. She is committed to delivering scientifically backed research to the MCS Foundation as it pursues its mission of decarbonising homes, heat and energy in the UK.
